Your toes in the sand just steps from the water’s edge, your skin bathing in the warmth of the sun’s light (after you’ve applied the proper amount of coconut-scented SPF, of course) — what, if anything, could make this moment be any better?
A frozen tropical drink in your hand. That’s what. (Little umbrellas optional).
Even if you’re in your backyard slathered with suntan lotion (does anybody call it that anymore?), you can take a dreamy, escape to the islands, mon, when you blend up a tasty frozen cocktail that incorporates a bit of rum, coconut, and citrusy flavors — the flavors of the tropics captured in a summer frozen drink.
(In truth, the best drink to have while on the beach is water — you know, so that you stay nice and hydrated and don’t suffer from heat exhaustion — so make sure that you have a few bottles of the H20 on hand and hydrate up!)
For most of the following summer drink recipes, you’ll need:
- Ice (cubes or crushed, your choice)
- A blender
- Rum (the rum listed in the recipe is ideal, but really, any rum will be good rum, am I right?)
- Fresh fruit
- Coasters (to keep your side table ring-free)
- Glass charms (to make sure your drink stays yours!)
Whether you want your summer mixed drinks thick and frothy or just on the rocks, here are our picks for some easy rum drinks for the beach.
