June Freebie and New Collection: Dive into Color with French Country Fields
And just like that – it’s June!
During the stay-at-home order we’ve been having to abide by here in California, I’ve been in my home studio working on lots and lots of new paintings. Over the past few months, I’ve been trying to approach my creative practice with a new slowness and more ease. I’ve always been quick to finish paintings, but now I’m trying to really enjoy the process and not rush through everything so incredibly quickly. I really like the direction this is driving my work!
One of the collections that has taken me a few months to put together was my new French Country Fields series. I actually started some of the drawings in the collection back in February and have been slowly building more work around it since then. I spent a few days just looking at the abstract paintings hanging on my wall – trying to decide the best course of action for them. And, I have to admit, I feel really satisfied with where this collection ended up!
French Country Fields is full of detailed botanical and farm animal drawings, abstract landscape paintings and ethereal watercolors. I pulled this month’s freebie from one of the colorful watercolor paintings to create a wallpaper for you all. Hope it brings lots of joy and light to your devices this month!
