New Collection and October Freebie: Spooky Style with Modern Halloween

Hello, October! It makes me SO beyond happy that we are inching closer and closer to Halloween.

When I was little, I used to cry when Halloween was over because I would have to wait a whole entire 365 days before I got to experience its magic once again. I loved Halloween THAT much! These days, I can reign in my adoration for the spooky day a bit more (thank goodness)! Nonetheless, I still absolutely adore this time of year – with all the magic, mystery, and overall coziness it offers.

I’ve discussed this before, but I create a lot of my seasonal artwork in a completely different season than it’s intended to be used in. While I already had new Thanksgiving/autumn and Christmas collections all set for this year, I realized I had nothing new for Halloween. I knew I had to get to work on creating something new for October.

I wanted to stay away from the normal, generic Halloween décor you normally see out there and try something a little different. I’ve been working a lot with line/dot illustrations – combining them with abstract watercolor paintings to create modern and unique pieces. Of course, I still included plenty of pumpkins and witches hats – just with a little bit more of a contemporary spin.

For this month’s freebie wallpaper download, I decided to use one of my Halloween inspired abstract paintings from this collection. It’s the perfect combination of festive and sophisticated. I hope it brings a little Halloween cheer to your phone, tablet or computer!
